A Conversation about the Riverman, 1984
In 1982, a serial killer started targeting sex workers and young women in Washington State. As dead bodies were being discovered near the Green River, the King County sheriff's detectives began spending more and more time investigating the Green River killings and realizing that they didn't have leads to follow. As a result, the Green River task force was formed, which included Dave Reichert, Robert Keppel, and other detectives. In 1984, Ted Bundy wrote a letter to the Green River Task Force offering his help to detectives in catching the then-unknown perpetrator the “Green River Killer” (or the “Riverman”), whose identity would later be revealed - through DNA evidence - as Gary Ridgway. The task force accepted Bundy’s offer to be a consultant for the Green River case.
